JOHANNESBURG, March 19 (ANA) – Namibia and Uganda will don cricket equipment for the first time in an international match in over a year when the sides clash in Windhoek next month.

The sides will play T20 Internationals and One-Day Internationals (ODIs) from April 2 to April 9, with the exact fixtures to be announced on March 25.

Namibia chief executive Johan Muller said: “Cricket Namibia is glad to announce the return of International cricket on home soil.

“We want to thank Uganda for taking this opportunity to travel to Namibia. We are looking for a strong on-field challenge of high-level cricket.

Namibian coach Pierre de Bruyn said: “Every match is crucial building up to the T20 World Cup and allows for us to look at new combinations and possibly a couple of fringe players.

“The players trained very hard during the lockdown period and this is a fantastic opportunity to show off their skills.”

Uganda coach Laurence Mahatlane said: “It is an exciting tour as Namibia is where we want to be. It will give us the opportunity to see where we are against an ODI team and what areas we still need to work on.”

Namibia are due to play in the T20 World Cup in India in October and November. The tournament was originally due to be played last year, but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
