3/17: South Africa Boksburg Local Government Summit 28 September 2022. The Local Government Summit currently under way in Boksburg. 4/17: South Africa Johannesburg Avalon cemetery 50th. 26 September 2022. Avalon cemetery in Soweto hosts over 300 000 remains and is now turning 50 years old. The Joburg mayor Dr Mpho Palatse visited the cemetery and following a brief visit to some grave sites like that of Hector Peterson and Helen Joseph and Lillian Ngoyi she gave the keynote address at the main event that was attended by several retired staff who gave history on the cemetery, City Parks staff and funeral parlours among others. During her speech members of the Eldorado Park organisation Guns Down stood up in silent protest with posters urging the mayor to attend to the gang shooting problem in their area. 5/17: South Africa – Plettenberg Bay – 25 September 2022 – NSRI Plettenberg Bay and the police services were activated at 07h53 following reports of a shark incident at Central Beach. The sea rescue craft Eric Stratford was launched. On arrival on the scene, the body of a believed to be 39-year-old female from Cape Town was recovered from the water and brought to the beach. 6/17: South Africa – Durban – 15 September 2022 – Durbans FLATFOOT DANCE COMPANY has had a long relationship of exchange with ACE dance and music based in Birmingham in the UK.
