4/19: South Africa – Cape Town – 24 November 2021 – The Amazon Warrior research ship that was scheduled to leave Cape Town harbor for the East Coast today at 12:00 noon, is still docked with apparent mechanical problems. Offshore seismic services contractor Shearwater GeoServices @shearwatergeo has secured what it says is a major 3D seismic survey contract for acquisition in South Africa. Using the Amazon Warrior seismic vessel, Shearwater will acquire over 6,000 square kilometers of 3D seismic data. Seismic testing involves blasting the sea floor with high-powered air guns every 10 seconds and measuring the echoes with long tubes to map offshore oil and gas reserves. 10/19: South Africa – Cape Town – 25 November 2021 – Gale-force winds caused a truck to overturn on the high-altitude viaduct bridge leading towards the Huguenot tunnel. Rescue workers are in the process of recovering the truck. The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a weather warning for the Western Cape. The weather service said an intense weather system will result in a strong to gale force south-east to easterly force wind between 60 to 70 km/h or gusting 80 to 100 km/h between Saldanha Bay and Plettenberg Bay from Thursday afternoon until Saturday November 27.
