9/20: South Africa – Cape Town – 27 January 2022 – Philippi Station has been closed since 2019 due to vandalism and theft. After the Central Line stopped working, informal housing structures has been erected on the tracks around Philippi station. The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) took media members for a tour around some of their Cape Town facilities. The aim is to educate the media on the current works taking place within Metrorail Western Cape. The train Ride from Cape Town Station to Fish Hoek on the Southern Line on the new train (from Cape Town to Fish Hoek Stations) was followed by a PRASA kombi’s trip to Glencairn to view the repairs done in order to open the line to Simon’s Town. 10/20: South Africa – Cape Town – 26 January 2022 – ‘Against All Odds is a film dedicated to the famous fistic achievements of Africa’s first world heavyweight boxing champion Gerrie Coetzee. He was the first fighter in the history of world boxing to claim the WBA heavyweight title for the African continent.Next to Gerrie sat the widow of Muhammad Ali, the greatest boxer ever and one of the most iconic figures of the 20th Century, Dr Khalilah Camacho Ali. The late Muhammad Ali and Gerrie Coetzee shared a special bond, and Dr Khalila Ali will offer significant input for the much-anticipated biopic.The executive producer of the movie, Kenddrie Utuk of the American film company Hartquist Productions, is in South Africa to finalise logistics and secure venues for the production.Utuk has slated the film to premiere on two starry occasions in Johannesburg and Washington DC.Filming in South Africa will start in a few months with South African director Koos Roets and South African producer Andre Scholtz at the helm. The cast will include several South African actors.Thereafter production will continue in Washington, and at the Richfield Coliseum in Ohio, the venue where Gerrie Coetzee became the champion of the world – Against All Odds.The role of Gerrie Coetzee will be played by middleweight MMA fighter in the UFC, Dricus Du Plessis. 12/20: South Africa – Cape Town – 21 January 2022 – Student checks her results as Scottsville Secondary School 2021 Matriculants celebrates the release of the individual 2021 National Senior Certificate results. The school had the greatest improvement in pass rate last year across the whole province, from 29.5% in 2020 to 64.0% in 2021 with a similar number of matrics writing in both years. an increase of 34.5 percentage points!
