15/18: South Africa – Cape Town – 1 March 2023 – A candlelight vigil was held on Hout Bay beach by the community of Hangberg for German tourist, Nick Frischke, who went missing on a hiking trail two weeks ago. While Nick’s family remains optimistic, hope that the 22-year-old will be found alive is fading fast after three of the five men arrested for being in possession of items belonging to him, confessed to robbing and stabbing him. Hout Bay police reported that Frischkes backpack and cellphone were recovered, as well as a kitchen knife. The knife is being examined for DNA evidence. Photographer: Armand Hough. 17/18: South Africa – Cape Town – 1 March 2023 – The annual Adwa Victory Rasta Nation March took place today as hundreds of Rastafarians marched to Parliament. The march takes place every year on the 1st or 2nd of March. Adwa Day Rastafari Nation March, which falls on 1st March annually, this is the fourth year of the march and the 123rd Anniversary of Adwa Victory Day which is an official holiday in Ethiopia. This is a day to affirm and reflect on the only independent African nation that defeated the European colonisers, RASTAFARI being a Movement that is Ethiopic in its World View, ideologies, philosophies and frames of reference to culture, spirituality, arts, knowledge, consciousness and beliefs.
