2/14: South Africa – Cape Town – 27 April 2021 -The Salt River Heritage Society (SRHS) in conjunction with the Observatory Civic Association (OCA), Goringhaicona Khoi Khoin Indigenous Council, the Two River Urban Park Association (TRUPA), and the Oude Molen Eco Village embarked on a walk of resistance on Freedom Day, the 27 April 2021, to register their opposition to the proposed multi-billion-rand River Club Development in the Two Rivers Urban Park, by reinstalling a commemorative plaque that was vandalised and destroyed almost one year ago. The plaque which was the only artefact indicating the heritage importance of the area, despite its potential as a world heritage site, has not been replaced by the City.The march was led by Tauriq Jenkins also in attendance was Dr Allan Boesak a political activist and a reverend. 9/14: South Africa Cape Town 26-April – 2021 The LGBTIQI+ Community March to National Parliament in Cape Town as part of the national strike against killing and raping LGBTIQI+. They demanding practical actions to be taken by the Police and stations that are handling these cases. They demand that something be done about these murders, due to the rise of hate crimes in the areas like Nyanga and murders of member of the LGBTIQI+ Community such as Ntsikie Tyatyeka, Phumeza Nkolonzi and Lonwabo Jack. 13/14: South Africa – Cape Town – 27 April 2021 – Beyrick and Noluvuyo Mpande from Working on Fire take on the surf as they took on the fire. Six firefighters who fought the Table Mountain blaze last week, were being treated to surfing lessons on Freedom Day at Muizenberg beach. The coffee company Ella, hired professional surfers, Beyrick de Vries and Dale Staples, to give free lessons to the men and women firefighters. For some, it’ll be the first time, they’ll be surfing.
