Cape Town, March 23 (ANA) Community Volunteers provided with rubbish bags and gloves assist in cleaning up a playpark in Bloekombos. As part of the Covid response and prevention project, SOS NPO have been installing emergency handwashing stations into the Bloekombos and Wallacedene communities to provide sanitation resources inhot-spot, high foot-count areas such as Taxi-Ranks, Schools and Community Clinics.As an extension of this project SOS are involved with a new PARKS Upgrade Project with the City ofCape Town, which involves the identification, clearing, cleaning and recovering of original park spaces,that were assigned as play areas for the children and social areas for residents in Bloekombos.Research has proven that parks and playgrounds significantly improve the physical and mental healthof a community’s citizens of all ages, making them a cornerstone for improved quality of life.
