JOHANNESBURG, May 3 (ANA) – Algeria football club JS Kabylie coach Dennis Lavagne hinted his side will adopt an attacking approach when they face Tunisian juggernauts CS Sfaxien in their African Confederation Cup quarterfinal later this month.

The draw for the competition was held over the weekend, and pitted Kabyile – the most successful side in the history of club football in Algeria – against the three-time Confederation Cup winners Sfaxien.

Lavagne said: “We know our opponent well. All the teams in the quarterfinal are strong. The match will be played on the pitch.

“We will play to win against Sfaxien and reach the semifinals. There are no easy of difficult teams, all the teams that qualified are strong. Sfaxien is a team with great experience in this tournament and we respect them well.”

With the dates for the two-legged clash set for May 14 to 16 and May 21 to 23, Lavagne said his side will readjust their goals for the competition now that they have advanced to the knockout stages.

“Our target is to go as far as possible in the competition. At the beginning our target was the group stage, then the quarterfinals and now we want to go the semifinal.”

Meanwhile, Senegal powerhouse ASC Jaraaf were drawn to face Cameroon’s Coton Sport FC.

Jaraaf Cheikh Gueye said: “Coton Sport is a good team from a country that’s a great football nation and we respect them well. Cameroon is near to us and that’s a good point. We will prepare for the match in the best way.” – African News Agency (ANA), Editing by Michael Sherman
