JOHANNESBURG, April 16 (ANA) – Rumours continued to swirl on Friday that Liverpool’s Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah could make a move to Spain’s La Liga.

Salah was a key member of the Liverpool side which claimed the English Premier League (EPL) trophy last season, the club’s first league title in 30 years.

According to sources, Salah is unhappy at Liverpool as they continue to struggle in the EPL this season as they currently occupy sixth place on the table. The table-topping Manchester City are a mammoth 22 points ahead of last season’s champions.

It is believed that Real Madrid are looking to sign the 28-year-old Salah.

Salah, last month, spoke about Liverpool’s struggles this season.

“It’s been tough in the Premier League, everybody can see that. We don’t want it to be tough but it’s a part of the game,” Salah told BT Sport.

“The last couple of years we were winning, we were flying. This year, we had a few injuries, so we were unlucky. You have young players and they are really playing good but sometimes you struggle to put someone in centre-back. But now we have two centre-backs or three or four – hopefully now we can keep winning.”

Salah was Liverpool’s top scorer in the EPL last season with 19 strikes as his side were crowned champions. Salah ended four goals behind Leicester City’s Jamie Vardy who was the top-scorer last season in the EPL with 23 strikes.

Salah is already a two-time winner of the African Player of the Year award – claiming the title in 2017 and 2018.

The former Chelsea player in his debut season (2017/2018) for Liverpool, Salah scored a phenomenal 32 goals from 36 league matches.
