JOHANNESBURG, March 30 (ANA) – The government of Morocco has announced that flights to and from France and Spain will be suspended from Tuesday to combat the coronavirus, according to the Voice of Nigeria (VON).
The news platform reported on Tuesday that according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the special passenger flights from the two countries will be subject to the tightened Covid-19 controls in accordance with the usual health protocols.
VON also reported that the North African country has so far suspended air connections with around 40 countries to stop the spread of Covid-19 and its more contagious variants.
Meanwhile, 4,302,897 people have received the first vaccine shot against coronavirus in Morocco and 3,455,603 people have received the second dose, according to VON.
The North African country launched a nationwide vaccination campaign on January 28 after the arrival of the first shipment of China’s Sinopharm vaccines.
According to ANI News, the government also extended Morocco’s curfew by two weeks.
The curfew from 9pm to 6am was introduced on December 23. Authorities have also banned celebrations, private and public gatherings and ordered restaurants to close at 8pm.

According to the health ministry’s latest figures, the total tally of Covid-19 infections in Morocco has reached 494,756, including 8,807 deaths and 482,585 recoveries.
