JOHANNESBURG, July 27 (ANA) – Egypt’s health ministry has warned citizens to adhere to coronavirus precautions.

According to the Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, the ministry has continued deploying teams to beaches to raise awareness about Covid-19 risks as the government warns citizens against ignoring health safety measures.

Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper also reported that the teams have been strategically placed at the northern coast to encourage citizens to respect safety measures and to donate masks and hand sanitisers to the people.

Meanwhile, the Egypt Independent reported that the country’s health and population ministry stated on Monday that Egypt has reported its lowest infection rates since the outbreak of the virus.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), as of July 12 a total of 4,851,349 vaccine doses have been administered in the country.

On July 23, The Herald newspaper in Zimbabwe quoted Egyptian ambassador to Zimbabwe Mahmoud Amir as saying: “The government is doing a great job in curbing the spread of Covid-19. The people should now go out there and get vaccinated to achieve herd immunity sooner rather than later. I hope that with the concerted effort of all nations we can overcome that.

“The situation is under control in Egypt, we just passed the third wave. Right now we have around 100 cases a day. The country is, however, open for tourism with strict safeguards measures to protect tourists.”

In its latest update, the health ministry in Egypt has recorded 284,059 cases of Covid-19. Since the outbreak of the pandemic, Egypt has reported 227,970 recoveries and 16,494 deaths.
