JOHANNESBURG, May 5 (ANA) – Egyptian Mohamed Salah is set to move up to 12th in the all-time scorers list for Liverpool with his next strike this season.

The 28-year-old has already scored 29 goals this season in all competitions for the English Premier League (EPL) champions.

Salah is level with Dick Forshaw on 123 goals for Liverpool.

In total, Salah has scored 123 goals in 198 matches for The Reds – as Liverpool are known.

Salah scored the only goal for his side in their EPL encounter with Newcastle at Anfield on April 24, before Liverpool’s match against old foes Manchester United this past weekend was postponed due to fan protests.

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp said: “He [Salah] is just a natural goalscorer, he wants to score goals. That is something he has developed later in his career.

“That is what world-class players do [score season after season]. Knowing your own quality helps you get back on track quicker than others.”

Salah is already a two-time winner of the EPL golden boot award (most goals in a season) in 2017/2018 and 2018/2019.

“A football player has 15 years, maybe 17 or 18 in some cases, in their career. It is a time in your life when you are at your physical best and you want to squeeze everything you can out of your career.

“Most of the players never win the Golden Boot. If you win it once it is a big achievement. If you win it twice it is a really big achievement, if you can win it a third time, there are not many players who have won it three times. – African News Agency (ANA), Editing by Michael Sherman
