JOHANNESBURG, April 9 (ANA) – Ousmane Dembele could be a good replacement for Liverpool’s Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah, if and when he leaves The Reds, club legend John Barnes said on Thursday.

The rumours are constant that Salah and Senegalese forward Sadio Mane could leave Liverpool at some stage, especially since the English Premier League champions have struggled this season as their log position of seventh indicates.

The England international Barnes who made 314 appearances for Liverpool from 1987 to 1997 told BonusCodeBets.co.uk: “One player that I think could make it at Liverpool is Ousmane Dembele,”

“He would fit right into the front three because his directness is perfect for Liverpool’s way of playing.”

The 23-year-old Frenchman Dembele joined Spanish club Barcelona in 2017 and has made 74 appearances, scoring 17 goals.

“Of all the players linked with Liverpool, he is a player that fans should be excited about. If he wants to continue playing at the biggest clubs like Barcelona then Liverpool is the right club for him.

“He’s a player that fits the way Liverpool plays and I think that Liverpool would be interested in that type of player.”

Right now, however, Barnes says Salah and Mane and fellow forward Roberto Firmino of Brazil should stay put at Liverpool.

“I can’t see a reason for any of the front three to leave because they like it at Liverpool and things are going well.

“I don’t think there’s a reason any of the front three need to feel they have to leave to fulfil their ambitions because they’ve won the league and the Champions League so it’s hard to say what more they want.

“In terms of the potential to be successful, they won’t get it much better anywhere else, it’s just a question of whether they feel they want a new challenge.”

Salah turns 29 in June and Mane turns 29 on Saturday, and given their ages Barnes said they might start thinking about leaving Liverpool.
