Currently, he has three goals and one assist as a central defensive midfielder in 18 games.

Last week, Munetsi played in a Ligue 1 fixture against Paris Saint-Germain that ended in a one-all draw. Pictures of the former Bucs player in a duel with World Cup winner Lionel Messi trended online, and Zimbabweans could not stop drooling.

One Facebook user accused Orlando Pirates of treating Munetsi as a half-decent player. Zimbabweans came down in numbers to defend Orlando Pirates, praising the team for moulding him.

Check out their sentiments below.

Samanyika:

“Pirates actually gave the boy the platform. No Zim team saw him, but Pirates gave him a chance. We must actually ask SA clubs how they see talent in Zim, which some of our local clubs fail to see. Bhasera, Musona, and Munetsi never played in Zim but were discovered in SA.”

Ntokozo:

“Pirates gave him a chance to showcase his skills. A token of appreciation would do, not criticism.”

Eddie:

“No, Munetsi was highly treated at Bucs. It’s only that Pirates is not like Sundowns. When an offer arrives, they wish you all the best to explore. Now Munetsi knows Pirates did well by allowing him to go overseas. He was their best defensive guy.”

Isheanesu:

“Mwene, can you explain further for me because I don’t get you here? Pirates tried to accommodate the boy, even playing him on CB knowing there was quality on the mid. No, let’s give credit to Pirates, guys. They even signed him when he was unknown and loaned him to Mvela, and brought him back. How many players were loaned by teams and never came back? The likes of Bakayoko.”
