Victims Of Harare-Mutare Road Accident Were Liberation War Veterans: President Mnangagwa

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has extended his condolences following the horrific accident which claimed 9 lives on Tuesday.

The accident occured between Rusape and Mutare, at the 217km peg along the Harare-Mutare highway, when the driver of an Isuzu KB truck lost control of the vehicle after a burst tyre.

5 people died on the spot and another 4 died when they were being transported to the hospital, with most of the victims being senior citizens in their 60s and 70s.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has since confirmed that most of the accident victims were members of the Zimbabwe National Liberation War Collaborators Association who were heading for a meeting in Mutare.

The President bemoaned the needless loss of lives through road accidents and called on motorists to be more cautious.
