Nyasha Mugwagwa Was One Of 12 People Beheaded By Islamic Insurgents
The Zimbabwe Ministry of Foreign Affairs has revealed that Zimbabwean man, Nyasha Mugwagwa, was one of 12 people who were beheaded by Islamic insurgents in Mozambique.
The Islamic State-linked insurgents, who are known in Mozambique as al-Shabab, attacked and overran the coastal town of Palma, in northeast Mozambique on 24 March and killed dozens of people in the attack.
Mugwagwa who was working as a catering manager for Remote Site Solutions, one of the contracted companies at the multibillion-dollar gas projects being built by France’s Total and other energy companies, was, unfortunately, one of the victims of the senseless murders by the Islamists.
The Mozambican police later buried the bodies in a mass grave due to the state of advanced decomposition. The Mozambican authorities initially thought that all 12 victims were white. It has since been revealed that they may have been mistaken due to the advanced state of decomposition of the bodies.
Ambassador Lovemore Mazemo, who is the Acting Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade said that the Zimbabwean government is now working with the government of Mozambique to help identify Mugwagwa’s remains so that they can be repatriated back home.
