Man Beats Neighbor To Death After Harboring His Wife. Masvingo police deputy spokesperson Assistant Inspector Lorine Ndhlovu confirmed the incident which happened on the 25th of March 2021 at around 9 PM. Masikati allegedly followed her to Muchenga’ s house in the company of Takudzwa Chitumba and Lovemore Mashiri of Runashe Village, Chief Marozva, Bikita.

In a rather disturbing development, a man from Masvingo was on Thursday allegedly beaten to death by his neighbor after harboring his wife whom he had assaulted for not cooking food for him.
Gift Muchenga(53) of plot 579 Clipsham, Masvingo died after he was severely attacked by Wellington Masikati (24) of 595 Clipsham plot. This comes after he had a misunderstanding with his wife Cecilia Mutodi (35).
Masvingo police deputy spokesperson Assistant Inspector Lorine Ndhlovu confirmed the incident which happened on the 25th of March 2021 at around 9 PM.
According to the police report, on the day of the incident, Masikati had a misunderstanding with Mutodi because she had not prepared him food and assaulted her.
Fearing for her life Mutodi fled and sought refuge at Muchenga’s homestead. Masikati allegedly followed her to Muchenga’s house in the company of Takudzwa Chitumba (20) and Lovemore Mashiri (22) of Runashe Village, Chief Marozva, Bikita.
Upon arrival at Muchenga’s place of residence, Masikati asked Muchenga why he was harboring his wife. Before he could even respond Masikati started assaulting him and struck him with an axe handle several times.
He took him outside and struck him once on the head with a brick until he was unconscious.
After attacking Muchenga, Masikati went on to strike Muchenga’s wife Perina Sireni Tshabangu once on the left foot and once on the head with a brick.
According to The Sunday News, the matter was reported to the police. Unfortunately, by the time the police arrived Muchenga was already dead.
His body was ferried to Masvingo General Hospital for post mortem. Meanwhile, his wife was also rushed to the same hospital where she is currently recovering.
Masikati was arrested and is currently in police custody, he is expected to appear in court soon.
