Game-Changing Discovery: SA Police Score Major Win, Uncover Firearm Linked to AKA and Tibz Shooting
After an intense three-month investigation, the police have made a significant breakthrough in the murder case involving South African hip hop sensation Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes and his companion, Tibz.
In a shocking incident that rocked the nation, AKA and his celebrity friend Tebello Motsoane were brutally gunned down outside Wish restaurant on Durban’s vibrant Florida Road.
However, the situation has taken a dramatic turn as sources close to the investigation have confirmed to Eyewitness News that a young man in his early 20s was apprehended over the weekend in Umlazi, a location south of Durban, for being in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
The recovered firearm underwent meticulous ballistic testing, which conclusively established it as the very weapon used in shooting AKA and Tibz on that tragic evening of February 10, 2023.
As of now, the KwaZulu-Natal police have not issued a statement regarding this latest development.

In March, the police seemed to have cracked the murder case of AKA and Tibz when they detained four men in Belhar, Cape Town.
The arrests of these four men, in two separate operations, were shrouded in mystery as the police revealed scant information about the reasons behind their apprehension.
Plain-clothed officers cornered the men in a secluded corner of Erica Square shopping centre in Belhar.
The officers had been surveilling the men for two weeks after DNA and fingerprints of one of the suspects were discovered in the abandoned getaway vehicle found in Umlazi following the fatal shooting of Forbes and Motsoane.
With their tails between their legs, the police were compelled to release the suspects “in the middle of the night”.
Police sources in KwaZulu-Natal informed News24 that the men had not been linked to the murders, but investigators were assessing whether they were wanted for other criminal activities.
