Abusive Man Assaults Wife For Denying Him Roasted Meat
In a suspected case of domestic violence, a soldier stationed in Bulawayo allegedly assaulted his wife and violently destroyed pots and plates in a fit of rage after she refused to give him roasted meat.
Lucia Muleya (36) who lives in Entumbane suburb was washing her plates and pots at around 4.30 PM last week on Saturday when her husband Umulina Mwembe (39) assaulted her.
According to a source privy to the incident, Mwembe arrived in a huff and demanded money to buy beer from his wife.
Lucia, who is a meat vendor, gave him $160.
The source revealed that he further demanded meat that Lucia sells, but she refused to give him. However, this did not sit well with him as he grabbed his wife by the throat and assaulted her with open hands.
After assaulting her, as if that was not enough, he picked the plates she was washing and smashed them on the ground leaving them in pieces and he also destroyed the pots while shouting obscenities at her.
Lucia who has had enough of her husband’s abuse dashed to a police station and made a report, B-Metro reports.
Narrating her ordeal at the police station, Lucia said she had suffered enough at the hands of her husband who always gets violent whenever he is drunk.
Meanwhile, in other news, a member of the Johanne Marange Apostolic sect reportedly blinded his wife of 50 years for betraying him by leaving the church.
Andrew Feshiti admitted to causing his wife’s blindness and bragged that she will only be healed if she comes back to the church.
The rather bizarre case only came out after 80-year-old Gogo Farasia Feshiti approached Chief Saunyama’s traditional court seeking recourse.
