3 Chipinge Teachers Slapped With $300k Lawsuit Over Satanism Allegations
Three teachers and a traditional healer from Chipinge were allegedly slapped with a lawsuit by one of the former teachers at Chimana Secondary School over satanism allegations.
Precious Mundende is suing three of her former workmates and a traditional leader for $300 000 in defamation charges after they allegedly accused her of being involved in Satanism. Mundende is also accusing them of reporting her to her superiors that she is a witch.
In her court papers, Mundende accused her former workmates of causing her transfer to Gaza High School saying they wrote a letter to Chipinge District Schools Inspector implying that she was a witch.
According to The Mirror, the allegations of witchcraft and satanism arose after a female teacher, Catherine Kamanga, died under mysterious circumstances last year. Moreover, when schools reopened this year students allegedly collapsed and lost consciousness after seeing snakes in the classrooms.
Mundende was transferred alongside two other teachers who went to different schools following the closure of Chimana Secondary School over Satanism allegations.
The transfers were effected after an initial report from traditional healers revealed that satanism in the school was being caused by some teachers. Mundende and two other teachers were accused of initiating 15 students into satanism
