The National Judicial Council (NJC) has reinstated a judge of the Ekiti State judiciary, Justice Jide Aladejana to office. He has since resumed work.

Justice Aladejana was suspended during the political crisis that also consumed the then Ekiti State chief judge, Justice Kayode Bamisile, which led to the impeachment of former Governor Ayo Fayose from office over an alleged N1.4billion poultry scandal.

Justice Aladejana officially resumed work this week after the lifting of his suspension by the NJC after staying off for over 16 years.

The judge was allocated the High Court number 2.

Aladejana was suspended by the NJC in 2006 following the role he played in constituting a seven-member panel that indicted former Governor Ayo Fayose of gross misconduct.

A different seven-member panel had earlier absolved Fayose of allegations of corrupt enrichment, abuse of office and operation of foreign account levelled against him.

Fayose was subsequently impeached by 24 out of 26 members of the Second Assembly on October 16 after the then lawmakers had adopted the report of the seven.

Information gathered revealed that Justice Aladejana performed the swearing-in of the then Speaker of the House of Assembly, the late Rt. Hon. Friday Aderemi, who was locked in a power struggle with the then deputy governor, Mrs Biodun Olujimi, on who should assume office as the acting governor of Ekiti State.
