The trial of the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, over a N2.5 billion fraud has again been stalled at the Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta because the Judge, Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, was indisposed but in her chambers.
The case was filed against Oluomo by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
I was gathered that Justice Joyce invited the lawyers to her chambers to brief them about the development.
That was the second time the court would be adjourning the case after it was transferred from Lagos to Ogun State.
Recall that EFCC in September, 2022, arrested and later arraigned Oluomo, alongside the Clerk of the House, Taiwo Adeyemo, and the Director of Finance, Oladayo Samuel, for diverting N2.5bn belonging to the assembly, but were granted bail after pleading not guilty to the charges.
