The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has commissioned the 150 million standard cubic feet (mscuf) Ibefun Natural Gas City Gate, which he said will support the state’s planned gas-powered mass transit scheme.

At the facility located in Odogbolu LGA, the governor said the project would equally help the state deploy electric motorcycles that would begin the process of reducing carbon emissions.

He said, “Today’s commissioning of the Ibefun Natural Gas City Gate will support, drive and complement our administration’s gas mobility project through which we will be introducing gas powered mass transit vehicles, while we also begin the deployment of electric motorcycles; all to reduce carbon emissions.”

The Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), Mr Mele Kyari, represented by the Vice President, Gas and Power, NNPC, Engr Abdulkabir Ahmed, called for more investments to improve domestic gas utilisation.

Kyari also added that the gas facility would create jobs and enhance development.

The Managing Director, Transit Gas Nigeria Limited, Mr Bolaji Osunsanya, noted that the project would help promote investment and contribute to job creation.

Osunsanya said the facility would supply gas to users in the Sagamu zone and other areas in the state.
