The Kogi State Police Command has disbursed N15,994,711.28 to the families of 28 officers who died in active service in the state.

The Commissioner of Police (CP), Akeem A. Yusuf, represented by the Deputy Commissioner, Abel Audu, while presenting cheques to the families, said the money was part of the deceased officers’ life insurance scheme and the Family Welfare Scheme of the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

In a statement, spokesman of the command, SP Williams Ovye Ayah, said the gesture was aimed at improving the welfare of the families and to also encourage officers who are still in active service.

He, therefore, urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money for the betterment of their families.
