APA – Kigali (Rwanda) Rwandan President Paul Kagame on Thursday fired state minister in charge of Culture, Edouard Bamporiki who is facing allegations of corruption regarding construction deal in Kigali city.

The minister was arrested by Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) early Thursday following his direct involvement in a saga.

President Paul Kagame has suspended Edouard Bamporiki from his duties as Minister of State in Ministry of Youth and Culture, “owing to matters of accountability under investigation.” the statement issued by the Prime Minister office said.

“Bamporiki Edouard who was the State Minister in the Ministry of Youth and Culture is under house arrest, being investigated for serious cases of corruption,” Rwanda Investigation Bureau said in a message posted on its twitter handle.

The scale of the investigations remains unclear. Bamporiki has been appointed Minister of state in the Ministry of youth and Culture since 2019.
