APA – Kigali (Rwanda) Landslides, floods and other natural disasters triggered by downpours have left 137 people dead in Rwanda since January this year, an official report revealed Monday.

The latest official figures indicate that 2,913 residential houses were destroyed while 1,540 hectares of crops were submerged or damaged by the floods.

The ministry of Disaster Management and Refugees affairs the destruction and deaths were mainly caused by floods and lightning.

Rwanda Meteorology Agency on Monday forecast heavy rains in different parts of Rwanda over the next few weeks.
